How do I update a nominee with my bank or insurance company?
Short answer:Use the bank or insurer's prescribed nomination-change process and obtain confirmation once the change is recorded. Updating a family relationship or nominee note in Moksha Sutra does not make the formal change.
Ask for the current process
Contact the institution through its official branch, customer account or servicing channel. Ask which form, identification and signatures are required for that account or policy.
Requirements differ between products and institutions. Use the current rules for multiple nominees, joint holding, minor nominees and appointees where relevant; do not rely on an old form or assume one arrangement suits every asset.
Submit and obtain acknowledgement
Confirm the reference and details before submission. A name correction, relationship update and change of nominated person may require different treatment.
- Identify the account or policy precisely.
- Complete the institution's current nomination or variation form.
- Provide the information and signatures it requires.
- Keep the submission acknowledgement and any reference number.
- Ask for confirmation that the revised nomination is recorded.
Update your private records afterwards
Save the confirmation with your bank or policy record. Replace an outdated note and clearly identify which acknowledgement is current. Review shared records separately if a family member needs the new information.
For an LIC policy, the official policyholder guidance and nomination forms below explain LIC's servicing route. Other providers may offer different channels. Seek legal advice if the proposed change could conflict with other estate arrangements.

Is changing someone from Other to Wife in Family enough?
No. That change corrects your private family directory. Review the associated nomination note separately, and complete any formal nomination update with the bank or insurer.
