How do I share selected records and documents with my family?
Short answer:Use Share chosen records with family to select the information and individual original documents, then send an invitation. The recipient signs in with the invited, verified email and accepts before accessing the selected information.
Choose the person and review the selection
Keep a trusted person's details in Family, then start a separate sharing invitation. Adding a contact or recording them as a nominee does not invite them or grant access.
Choose the record details the person needs. Review each original document separately: a complete file can expose information that is not included in the record summary.
- Select the intended recipient and check their email.
- Choose the record details deliberately.
- Choose each original document you want to share; attachments are not automatically included.
- Review the complete selection before sending.
Understand sending and acceptance
An invitation link is not itself access to private financial information. The recipient must sign in with the invited, verified email and accept the invitation.
The recipient can return to accepted information through Shared with me. Sending an invitation is different from confirmed delivery or acceptance, so check the sharing status rather than assuming someone has opened it.
Review changes and revocation
Shared information is a reviewed selection, not automatic exposure of every future private edit. Review the sharing selection when corrected or new information needs to be made available.
You can revoke access through family-sharing management. Revocation stops future platform access; it cannot recall copies someone already downloaded or kept. Share only with people you trust.
Keep the legal and institutional limits clear
Shared access is read-only access to selected information in Moksha Sutra. It does not authorise banking transactions, create a nomination, appoint an executor or establish entitlement to an asset.
Tell the recipient which papers are reference copies and where originals are stored. Any claim or formal change must still follow the institution's process.
Related questions answered
Does assigning someone as a nominee automatically share the record?
No. Nomination notes and Family contacts are separate from permissions. The owner must explicitly choose what to share and the recipient must accept the invitation.
